Six years later, Gargallo (whose friendship with Picasso began in Barcelona, ​​continued in Paris and would only end with the death of the former) executed the Portrait of Picasso, 1913, in carved stone and round shape, a work also, like this one, extraordinarily synthetic and expressive The iconographic similarities are very pronounced, although the position of the characteristic bangs and the satirical smile is different in each case.
From the stone portrait he later derived Picasso's Mask, 1913, making editions in terracotta and bronze, one of whose specimens belongs to the collections of the Pablo Gargallo Museum.
Also The Young Man with the Daisy (The Aragonese), 1927, included in this catalogue, seems inspired, in proportions, gesture and physical features, by the figure of Picasso (repeating the almost emblematic bangs, again to the left), regardless of other connotations of a sentimental and more or less symbolic nature, which we will refer to in due course.
