In 1976 the Parma Food Association entrusted Ricci with the task of designing the trademark of the consortium to promote its excellent local products both in Italy and abroad. The symbol, in neoclassical style, is based on the combination of whites and blacks in a symmetrical way and evokes Parma's golden age. The floral motif derives from a frieze by Bodoni (the font of the writings is Bodoni too), and is inscribed in an octagon. This geometric figure has its archetype in the plan of Parma's Baptistery, a symbol of the city also evoked by the packaging shown here.
