Paco de Lucía was one of the most influential and renowned flamenco guitarists in the world. Born in Algeciras (Cádiz) in 1947, he revolutionised flamenco with his virtuosity and his ability to fuse the genre with other musical styles such as jazz. Pictured here is a very young Paco de Lucía with his brothers and parents.

Paco de Lucía was the son of two survivors: Antonio Sánchez Pecino, a salesman by day and guitarist by night, and Luzía Gomes, a Portuguese immigrant in Algeciras in the 1930s. The picture shows Paco de Lucía at his mother's funeral with his brothers Pepe, María and Antonio.
