Among the sea tribes of the Nusantara archipelago, a number of ships are known for its superiority. One of them is the Padewakang ship whose lampe' (hull) is longer than the others. Padewakang has a long and wide hull which makes it a big and strong ship. Its main advantage is that it is a strong carrier and has a thickness of up to five layers of wood on the hull. This type of ship is generally used to transport important goods. The design is important as while it can carry heavy loads, with a wide and triangular-shaped sail, it can sail relatively fast.
