Padmasambhava in the Copper Coloured Mountain of Auspiciousness

According to the Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism, the Copper Coloured Mountain of Auspiciousness, which lies in the Kingdom of Raksasi-dvipa in the south-western realm is the home of Padmasambhava. Prayer to the Copper Coloured Mountain of Auspiciousness records that: "In the Dragon Sea (klu-mtsho) in the centre of the Kingdom of Raksasi-dvipa in the south-western realm there is a copper coloured mountain. At the centre of this mountain is the Incarnation Palace which is the paradise of the Master Padmasambhava. The palace is surrounded by abundant green mountains and oases. Inside the Incarnation Palace Padmasambhava sits on the precious lotus throne (Tibetan: pad-gdan) with his two consorts and on either side live the perfected masters from India and Tibet and his officials, numbering twenty-five in all. Four great vajras guard each of the main entrances in each of the four directions. The second floor of the palace is the Sambhoga-kaya Palace, residence of Four-armed Avalokitesvara. In the top storey is the Dharma-kaya Palace in which lives Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (Tibetan: kun-tu bzang-po). According to the Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism, the Mountain of Copper Coloured Auspiciousness and Amitabha's Western Paradise are equally auspicious; both have happiness and are without suffering. This thangka depicts the holy land (Tibetan: gnas-chen) of the Mountain of Copper Coloured Auspiciousness.
