  • Transcript:
Before Professor Jakes Gerwel became the Director-General of the Presidency and began to draft my speeches, a task which he still performs to the present day, my speeches were drafted by Comrade Joel Netshitenzhe assisted by Comrade Tony Trew. Joel Netshitenzhe could be polite and controlled in the face of unbearable provocation. In the numerous meetings I attended with him as President of the ANC and the country, I have never seen him once losing his temper. In this regard he worked cordially with Thabo who sometimes would volunteer to help write the speech. 49
