Berlin, 15.8.1944 Dearest Mother, We are still keeping well; hopefully you too are in good health. Unfortunately I received only 1 more detailed card, written in April; also, I haven’t had a package receipt confirmation for several weeks now, but I think they are collecting them again, so one receives a pile of them all at once. If I only knew whether I am sending you the right things. Today a package of potatoes and vegetables will go out by the same post. I’ll send the herbs and spices for them separately. When you are allowed to write again, do tell me what you need. Others are doing so, too. Have you run into anyone there? Have you already spoken to Anneliese’s mother? Here, everything goes on as usual. Herbert plans to be here by the end of September. I am very worried about Ilse, because I haven’t heard from her in weeks, despite having written to her lately. Her husband meant to take up a position in Teplitz on 1.8. By the way, I haven’t had any news from Cologne for a long time, so mail to me may perhaps have gone astray. — Hans intends to move back to Berlin for the winter, as all the driving quite exhausts him. I try to balance the strain with a good meal each Sunday but that alone doesn’t help much of course. Many thousand kisses and all the best. Your (Signature) Hella Anneliese, Herbert, Traute, Tante Clara, Tante Hedwig, Dr. P. all send their regards.
