"The Maroon and Gold" is the yearbook for Atkins High School in Winston Salem, NC. Atkins High School was dedicated as an African American school in 1931 with funds from Julius Rosenwald. Rosenwald notably supported African American education throughout the south. This 1932 yearbook is part of the McLean Family Papers. Willard J. McLean was the principal at Nash County Training school and Richard B. Harrison High School in Selma, NC. He was also a leader in the NC Teachers' Association.
