Page from the collected writings of Ripa Bayo Tulku (1876-1942), a Buddhist luminary, an artist, a traveler, and a Tibetan vagabond.

In these pages, Ripa Bayo Rinpoche recorded his travels and his prophesies; he not only took detailed notes on the miracles and sights of his life, but produced extensive illustrations which more fully captured the nature of his experiences. A great Buddhist storyteller, artist, soothsayer, and teacher, Ripa Bayo told stories to entertain both the 15th Karmapa and the King of Bhutan. Each of the 1,604 pages in this collection reflect his great insight and his sense of observant wonder.

This manuscript is reproduced from unique handwritten cursive manuscripts calligraphed by Dripa Changchun of Dronpame, Yangchen, Kham. Dipa Changchun was a professional calligrapher commissioned to copy Ripa Bayo's handwritten manuscript. From the private library of Ripa Karma Bayo VII.
