The Marriage of Figaro was written shortly before the French Revolution by the Frenchman Beaumarchais. It was initially banned, and caused uproar when first produced. With its questioning of the rights and privileges of the upper classes, it managed to both shock and delight audiences, and was a huge success.

In 1992, directed by David Bell, the production explored both the eighteenth century French and Spanish elements of the play. As Susanna, Christen O’Leary was both touching and hilarious, sharply dressed in this lime green silk dress.
