Frank WANG Yefeng’s zine intertwines the creative process and research references of his new interdisciplinary work, Avatopology- Volume I. First inspired by an in-depth interaction with Yuk Hui’s texts on digital objects at Asia Art Archive in America, the artist intends to probe new imaginations for our cultures, identities, communication, and technology through this project. Avatopology presents a digitally driven, open-ended, non-arbitrary, non-hierarchical collaboration with “digital nomads” originally from Estonia, Indonesia, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka among other locations. Further accompanied by animations, writings, voiceovers, and objects from the multilingual conversations had during the collaborative process, the project becomes a collectively synchronized topology that transforms the diverse human labor network behind it.
