This painting of orchids and rocks was painted by Regent Yi Haeung at the age of 78. Two panels arranged side by side are symmetrical to each other. This composition was often found in the works of Yi Haeung during his 70s. The abundant leaves look resilient and sharp with little change of light and shade. The outline of the viewing stones was drawn with a fast and rough brushstroke, while small dark dots were painted on the rocks with pale ink. In the upper right corner of the tenth panel was written the phrase, “Regent Yi Haeung drew this painting for the person named Kim Sa-dal in 1897 at the age of 78.”
