This ten-paneled folding screen depicts the royal banquet held in May 1901, the 5th year of Emperor Gojong’s reign, in Gyeongungung Palace or Palace of Joyful Fortune to celebrate the 71st birthday of Queen Dowager Hyojeong, the second consort of King Heonjong. The first and second panels depict a scene from the celebration in which the crown prince and officials dedicated a piece of writing to the king or elders of the royal family held in Junghwajeon Hall, the Hall of Equitable Harmony. The third and fourth panels depict the banquet hosted by the queen, queen dowager, and crown princess with internal and external court ladies as invited guests held on May 13. The fifth and sixth panels depict the banquet held on the night of May 13. The seventh and eighth panels depict the banquet held one day after the main banquet hosted by Emperor Gojong. The ninth panel depicts the banquet held two days after the main banquet, and the last panel lists the names and ranks of the officials in charge of the ceremony. The palace and figures are depicted using a birds-eye view perspective.
