Painting depicting the interior of the Synagogue of El Tránsito at the time when it was a Christian church.
It has great documentary value as it allows us to study the transformations that the space underwent, for example, the windows of the Women's Gallery appear closed because it was the chaplain's residence or sacristy; we find altars, a wooden choir at the foot, a Stations of the Cross, and numerous elements that tell us about its Christian use.
The author is Pablo Gonzalvo Pérez, a 19th century painter specialising in architectural views. He was awarded prizes at several National Fine Arts Exhibitions, and within his work we find other interiors of buildings in Toledo, specifically the cathedral.
