War Museum
Athina, Greece

A pair of stirrups used to position the rider’s feet, both when mounting the horse and while riding on its back. Made of brass, the stirrups are reminiscent of slippers. They are enclosed and in addition to the surface they offer for the sole, they also cover the entire front part of the foot. The horizontal cylindrical bars were apparently used to fasten the stirrups to the saddle.
