The pair of doors bears a symmetrical geometric design with small star-shaped or polygonal plaques, each decorated with an arabesque. Two panels which carry Arabic inscriptions determine a Christian provenance from a church of Cairo as they are excerpts from the Bible (Luke 2:14 and Psalm 44:10). An analogous example is the doors of the minbar in the mosque al-Salih Tala’i‘ dated 1299 (AH 699). From Cairo, 14th c. H 197 cm (ΓΕ 9281)
