The coverings are two sections of lace, which are usually part of a bonnet and frame the face. They can also be mounted on the top of the head. Here, the two panels were assembled and lengthened by the inclusion of lace of a different pattern. These panels were made of a Valencien type lace and were therefore worn in summer like most lace with bobbins.
