A typical handheld pakkha has two parts; the handle and the fan surface. The handle is often made using local wood, sometimes turned or carved with simple patterns. The surface of the fan itself is made using various materials like date leaves, straw, grass or cloth. A pakkha is usually made by the women of the house.
