A band plays on the bandstand at the Palace Pier in St Leonards on Sea. Work began on the pier in 1888 but financial issues delayed its opening until 1891. During the Second World War the pier was damaged by a bomb and by fire. It remained derelict and was demolished in the early 1950s.
