A blanket was kept on this palang towards the daaman and a pillow on the sirhana, the side opposite to daaman. It was raised from the floor by keeping bricks under each leg of the palang, protecting it from water used while cleaning the floor daily. An aala (wall niche) containing the images of the gods was on the wall near which palang was kept.
