Palanok Castle

Palanok Castle is located in the city of Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region. Even though the population of Mukachevo is only 90 thousand people, every year, about 250 thousand tourists pass through the castle gates! Palanok Castle is included in the European tour ""Places of Glory of Rakoczi"", dedicated to the personality of the Hungarian national hero Ferenc Rakoczi II. The latter led the national liberation war against the Habsburgs in the early XVIII century. Today, the Mukachevo Historical Museum is located here, the place is also known for numerous festivals.
