Black & white line- engraving by T Prattent Sculp, London in 1796 with title- “ The palanquin presented by the Marquis Cornwallis to Prince Abdul Calic, Eldest son of Tipoo Sultan is alone example. After Tipoo’s death two presentation palanquins survived but “they appeared never to have been unpacked.” Lord Cornwallis presented him the most beautiful palanquin which the India could produce. This palanquin was richly ornamented with mouldings; the panels on each side were decorated with emblematical devices, supported by two snakes.
Line-engraving, the most common of the intaglio processes, as like the woodcut, a simple hand process.
