This specimen is an extremely rare sea star from the Hunsrück Slate, dating back about 400 million years. With a diameter of 20 centimeters, it is one of the largest sea stars discovered in this location. The use of an X-ray procedure reveals numerous details such as the wide open mouth with its skeletal elements or the lines of plates along the arms.
