A green-coloured Vespa scooter, mounted with a matching sidecar manufactured by the Vinay Corporation. The vehicle has an emblem of a horse on its surface.
The popularity of Vespa scooters in India was the outcome of the collaboration between Bajaj Autos and Piaggio during 1960's. Although the tradition of using sidecars on scooters and bikes started in early 20th Century, in India it is associated with style and culture of 70's and 80's. The sidecar typically provides one passenger seat and small trunk compartment behind. There has been a sense of pride associated with the ride on such a scooter which was truly a car for Indian middle classes in the decade of 70's when Indian economy was in shambles.
