Pan or Silenus

The presence of Classical culture is a constant in the literary and ideographic speech of the XVII century, associating mythological figures or histories to events and biblical or coeval characters. This fusion of elements has created a rich culture of signs and senses. This panel with the representation of Pan or Silene, of which the National Tile Museum has part of similar shape and representation, would probably be associated with a House of Fresco or garden, a space of contact with nature and with its forces, of which these deities were the personification, in Greco-Roman culture.
