Artist from Haarlem, who for a number of years worked in Vianen (1642–1645) and Amsterdam (1645). Eldest son of Frans Hals (1582/83–1666). Pupil of his father. Painted genre paintings – merry companies, portraits, and children in particular. Close to the style of another pupil of Frans HalsAdriaen Brouwer (1605/06– 1638).
