Gentle smile, pain, and dignity can all describe this face composed of 70 images of different faces. This single channel video art could be a watchtower. It slowly pans left to right from 8M high museum wall. Is the self censorship within your subconscious a human nature or a social expectation?

  • Critic's Note: Ligyung's artistic territory presents her diverse talents and expressive range in installation, plane figure, and sculpture. She aspires to seek her everlasting interests in religious spirituality, ruptured contradiction between human interactions, and she continues to bring fundamental questions when the art and society relates to one another. Generally, artists' works tend to begin with their own identity searching and went on to the worldly conflict with the identity found then finally ends with the religious subject matter. On the other hand, Ligying's work investigates religious spirituality from the very first stage. Her ability to provide not only the individual existence intimately connected to religion, but also the religious contradiction and concerns is astonishing. The artist continues to ask "How incomplete it is what you are seeing is what you believing?" and visualizes such question through her installation works at the various exhibition in England, Germany, Slovenia and Asia. Her sharp outlook on the world always leaves you with the sensational significance and a memorization.
  • Artist's Education: Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. M.F.A., Painting.
