Panorama of Secastilla, a town in Somontano

The region of Somontano de Barbastro is located in the central zone of the province of Huesca, from the outer ranges of the Pyrenees to the vast grasslands of Los Monegros. Its name references the fact that most of its land is located in the foothills of the Pre-Pyrenees. It is a large area of undulating land, which boasts perfect climatic conditions for the agricultural development of high-quality oils, vegetables, and renowned wines with the Designation of Origin of “Somontano.” South of Barbastro, the huge stretches of grasslands are dominated by fields of cereals and newly irrigated land.
