Legend has it that Wroclaw - the capital city of Lower Silesia, is run by naughty gnomes that run around when nobody sees them.
But, the true story of Wrocław's gnomes is that, it started with the fact that in the 1980s in Wrocław, there was an anti-communist movement called Pomarańczowa Alternatywa. When the authorities of the Polish People's Republic issued an order to paint over the anti-communist inscriptions that appeared on the walls, in response to it, orange dwarves appeared on the walls of the city. Their author was Waldemar "Major" Fydrych. He organized happenings against authorities, gathering hundreds of people in Gnome's caps.

Although they were forgotten for a few years, already in 2005, at Świdnicka Street - where the events of the Orange Alternative most often took place - Papa Dwarf was located. And then the other gnomes followed. In the year 2024, there will be around 600 figurines of dwarfs all around the city.
