Parrot lizard

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt
Frankfurt am Main, Germany

The fossil of Psittacosaurus is among the most important dinosaur fossils in the Senckenberg Nature Museum in Frankfurt. Not only is it preserved in its entirety, but it also reveals large-scale imprints of the skin as well as remnants of its last meal. While Psittacosaurus fossils are generally quite common, they are rarely found in such an excellent state of preservation. The long bristles on the tail, which are reminiscent of feather keels, are only known from this specimen to date. This shows that such feather-like structures were not restricted to predatory dinosaurs alone.
