Papaya e pitaja (Papaya and pitaya)

Gilardi aimed to create a reflection of nature, and his personal experiences with nature, in an artificial and idealized aesthetic object. This artwork is one removed from his daily life, the papaya being a tropical fruit, displayed alongside other examples of exotic flora and fauna, like the cocoa plant and Mexican armadillo.
