Toyohisa Utagawa is a disciple of Toyoharu Utagawa. He painted many portraits of beauties and actors during his life. The first half of the 19th century,he made a lot of pictures for paper craft called kumiage-toro-e. This work is a typical type of kumiage-toro-e. Fire fighters one and another paper craft of bridge are played in a set. To make this fire fighters' ceremony called dezome-shiki,the New Year parade of fire brigades,is very difficult,especialy cutting a ladder our,a nd pasting it on the sheet.
