This is the famous text of the life story of Sinuhe. This text belonged to the classical literature of Ancient Egypt in Middle Egyptian language. The autobiography of Sinuhe (son of the sycamore) is one of the linguistically richest literary works of Egypt and had a firm place in the school literature of the New Kingdom. The action takes place in the Middle Kingdom. [...] Sinuhe was a royal harem official and henchman on military campaigns. By random he becomes a witness, when a messenger brings to the Crown Prince and co-regent Senwosret the news of the death of his father Amenemhat I, who had fallen victim to a conspiracy. As a senior official Sinuhe feared obviously, to be suspected of complicity, and fled to Palestine. There he finds himself friendly welcomed by the Prince of Jaa because Sinuhe’s great prestige at the Egyptian court was famous beyond the borders. The prince married him to his daughter and gives him the most beautiful countries of his dominion. As a commander Sinuhe is leading the troops and is coming back with rich prey after each military campaign. His successes are arousing envy and eventually are leading to a duel with a neighbor, that Sinuhe is wins. Sinuhe spends his years in peace and prosperity, but his longing for home is getting stronger and stronger. Then a letter of Pharaoh Senwosret I is calling him back to Egypt. At the border a great reception is prepared to Sinuhe and he can spend his old age with special privileges in Egypt.
