Parfleche

Sioux. Rawhide, rectangular, folded to form a flat container; front flaps covered w/ leather w/ cloth sewn to interior. Holes for ties present; leather thong & one cloth tie remain. Beaded border along top, bottom & inside edges of flap: lt blue w/ boxes of red/yellow & dk blue/yellow. One flap has 9 quilled bands in red/yellow/green. The other has 7 quilled bands w/ quill wrapped rawhide fringe on inside flap edge. Some metal cones w/ fabric still present. Also remnants of down/feathers on the bands of quilling.
