Division directors Frank T. Shutt (Chemistry) and Charles E. Saunders (Cereals) were camera enthusiasts, and many of their photographs have survived in the form of Magic Lantern slides. They and their staff produced hundreds of individual glass plates showcasing their work, which were used for lectures and presentations.

This image of cross-pollination of a flower is an example of a Magic Lantern slide used in educational lectures and presentations.
