The steam engine had been purchased from the Fratte foundry in Salerno. It was a horizontal high and low pressure machine with drawer distribution according to the River system with variable expansion and had a Portere precision system with a mixture condenser. The diameter of the high pressure cylinder measured 200mm, with a power of 25 horsepower and 7 atmospheres of pressure in the boiler. It powered the movement of all the machines in the factory by means of trees, wheels and belts. The motion was transmitted both to the machines inside the mill and to those inside the pasta factory. The steam engine also moved a dynamo that produced electricity to illuminate both the mill and the pasta factory. The steam engine had been purchased from the Fratte foundry in Salerno.
