Almost all of Mrs. Rabiha Rıfat’s books are found in our collection. The book titled Ev Hanımlarına Mahsus Alafranga Pastacılık (“European Pastry Recipes For Housewives”) in Ottoman Turkish by Rabiha Hanım, which was printed in 1925, containing 41 recipes in a wide range from cakes to cookies, from biscuits to bagels and another book titled “La Bonne Cuisine Turque Facile Et Economique” (Easy and Affordable Turkish Cuisine), which is printed in 1925 are precious items of our collection. In addition, one of the rare cookbooks published in 1929, Alafranga ve Alaturka Nefis Yemekler (“European and Ottoman Style Delicious Dishes”) is an important part of our collection of books written by Mrs. Rabiha. Another important element of this book for us is that it is written “Rabiha”, signed by Mrs. Rabiha, on the “Rabia” print signature in the “Getting Started” section of the book. Mrs. Rabiha sealed and corrected the printing error in which her name was written with a missing “h” in this and all other editions by writing “Rabiha” with her own ballpoint pen. It is an extremely delicate and important detail and a very precious edition.
