The J. Paul Getty Museum

The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

A solid cast bonze handle in the form of a kouros. The figure raises both arms up to support palmettes in interstices between the curve of the bowl and two volutes above the head of the figure. The hair is helmet-like and falls in sharp lines over the back. In the back, another double volute rises from the head where the handle would attach to the bowl. The feet are missing. The bronze is quite pitted.
