Schroeder was a leader on critical issues of foreign and military policy, arms control and disarmament, women’s economic equality, educational opportunity and civil, constitutional rights and pro-choice legislation.

“When she wins, we win!” was Pat Schroeder’s campaign slogan for more than two decades. The popular Democrat was the first Colorado woman elected to Congress, representing the1st Congressional District from 1972 to 1996. When Pat stepped down from Congress, she had built a transformative legacy of rights and benefits for women and families.
