The grave of Patrick O'Brien; his headstone is the tallest Celtic cross, fourth from right. The inscription states that it was 'erected by members of the Irish Parliamentary Party'. O'Brien was close to John Redmond who, in a rare display of public emotion, broke down at O'Brien's funeral in Glasnevin on 14 July 1917 and had to be helped from the graveside. While O'Brien's funeral attracted a sizeable attendance, the reality was that by 1917 the IPP was coming under increasing pressure from the newly energised and reconstituted Sinn Féin party
