Patron's Love For Cross Stitch Turned Into Creative Empowerment For Carakana Beneficiaries.

Incarceration, living with a disability recovering from substance abuse, early marriages and gender based violence comes with effects of fear, depression, feeling unwanted and stressed. The Carakana Patron discovered that the above mentioned vulnerable women go through a lot to fend for themselves and their families without any societal support. She thus thought of a way to empower and transform their lives while restoring their dignity, this gave rise to Carakana.Carakana is a social enterprise which facilitates the transfer and preservation of indigenous skills and cross stitching, in production of quality handmade items for sustainable livelihoods and wellbeing of vulnerable groups.
