Pauline de Rothschild in her Bedroom, Vogue

Writer and fashion designer Baronne Pauline de Rothschild sits in bed in her bedroom and study at Chateau Mouton near Bordeaux, France. Her four-poster bed is dressed in a white ciel-de-lit and white embroidered pillows. The bed is spread with her text and notes, and more notes fill a basket sitting on a bench by the bed. On the wall, hang Chinese painted panels framed in gilded wooden thatch, designed by Pauline herself. One of the panels is set inside an eighteenth-century English cabinet that holds cowrie shells set in silver and painted shells used originally in a Japanese games.
