Godes began working with photography in about 1920. His work is sensitive and rigorous, with a precision that showed itself from the earliest reportages by him known to us, which he did in Córdoba in 1927. Two years later he produced another superb reportage on the 1929 International Exhibition in Barcelona, where we can make out his modern view of photography. But it was in about 1930 that Godes began the personal research which was to produce his most emblematic work, the series of plants, reptiles and insects he called 'large-format micro-photographs' and which are the most important contribution by New Objectivity to our history of photography.
