Hybrid tea roses are the traditional florist roses. Originally this class evolved from hybridizing tea roses with hybrid perpetual roses. This union produced large blooms on single stems. In modern times, there has been more hybridizing from other rose classes to create new disease resistant hybrids with more blooms per stem on a healthier and more attractive shrub. This particular hybrid tea rose bears the name of Peggy Rockefeller, for whom The New York Botanical Garden's Rose Garden is also named.
