Peking Egg

Piece made by Gregory Sbitnev, an artist who worked in Carl Fabergé's workshop. Sbitnev was known for his work in silver and cloisonné enamel, creating objects such as this Peking Egg. These types of works were in high demand in the European market during the first decades of the 20th century. Many Russian workshops created their works for export, following in the footsteps of Carl Fabergé, who gained public favor thanks to the eggs he created for the Imperial Family.
