Pen Used by President Calvin Coolidge to Sign the Contract Air Mail Act.The act authorized the postmaster general to contract domestic airmail services with commercial air carriers. It also created a set air mail rate and a level of cash subsidies to be paid to the companies carrying the mail. This act helped to create the commercial aviation industry.
