This necklace has a double-sided pendant featuring images of civil rights activist Rosa Parks. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, a 42-year-old African American woman who worked as a seamstress, boarded the Montgomery City bus to go home from work. She refused to give up her sit in the coloured section of the bus for a white passenger. She was arrested and convicted for violating the segregation laws. Mrs Parks appealed her conviction and was one of the catalysts in sparking the American Civil Rights Movement.
