The manor and estate at Peper Harow were bought by Alan Brodrick, later Viscount Midleton, in 1713. In the mid 18th century, the third Viscount built a new house and commissioned Lancelot 'Capability' Brown to landscape the grounds.

The estate was broken up in 1942 following the death of Earl Midleton. During the Second World War the house was requisitioned for use as the Canadian Army headquarters. After the war it became a school and the whole site is now a private residential area.
