Piercers (or perforators) are tools used on different materials such as quartzite or flint, which have a very sharp point. During the Upper Paleolithic period, large quantities of this type of tool appeared. They were used for piercing and perforating materials such as stone, antler, shell, ivory and bone. They would have been used to pierce holes and similar features in items such as pendants, suggesting the existence of a wider range of clothing in the Upper Paleolithic period.
