Perseus and Andromeda

With this terracotta, Chinard won first prize in the Concorso Balestra in 1786, drawing inspiration from ancient models.
Andromeda, her body twisting, slips down from the rock into the arms of Perseus, who holds her with heroic composure, wrapping his arm around her back, his pose reflecting the sensibilities of the era and the French artistic tradition.
